Bob was born in India, to Baptist missionary parents , and lived there for the better part of eighteen years. Upon returning to Canada (the land of ice and snow) he attended Acadia University where he met his wife Barb, the daughter of a staunch Anglican. In the spirit of compromise, they decided to worship in the United Church, and have been happily married and “united” for over 40 years.
While Bob trained as an organist at Acadia his professional career led him into the public school system schools where he taught music from Primary to Grade Twelve in the Annapolis Valley, with most of his work focusing on high school bands and choirs. He has produced a number of musicals, taught pre-service teachers at Acadia, adjudicated music festivals, and worked with community bands.
Bob has miraculously survived raising two wonderful daughters who live close enough to bring constant joy and pride to his life. The addition of two little grandsons, and assorted pets has enriched his life beyond measure, and keeps him young. In addition to his passion for music, Bob also enjoys curling in the winter and boating in summer. He is the proud owner of a motor yacht, which serves as the family cottage.
Bob is thrilled that his life has brought him “full circle” in his retirement. He is now returning to his original training as an organist, and is so happy to be able to offer his varied skills to the wonderful Woodlawn family.
