We  have a diverse worship life at Woodlawn, with a regular worship service every Sunday morning at 10:00 AM. Worship is led by our ministry team, Rev. Phillip Kennedy, Rev. Mary Lynne Whyte, Shannon MacLean and Bob Rushton.

Come hear the story of our faith,  listen for the voice of God and the movement of the Holy Spirit in our diverse worship services.

  • The message is shared in story, sermon, monologue, dramatic presentations and sometimes even video.
  • Music is an integral part of worship and different each week. You will hear amazing sounds: choir, anthems, organ, piano, drums, and various different instruments.
  • We have communion several times a year. Everyone is welcome at Christ's table to break bread (Gluten free bread) and drink the wine (grape juice).

Ash Wednesday Service

February 14, 2018 ~ 7:00 PM

In Western Christianity, Ash Wednesday marks the start of the season of Lent, which begins 40 days prior to Easter (Sundays are not included in the count). Lent is a time when many Christians prepare for Easter by observing a period of fasting, repentance, moderation and spiritual discipline.

The Bible does not mention Ash Wednesday or the custom of Lent, however, the practice of repentance and mourning in ashes is found in 2 Samuel 13:19; Esther 4:1; Job 2:8; Daniel 9:3; Jonah 3:6; and Matthew 11:21.

Our Ash Wednesday Service will have an emphasis on confession, forgiveness, and renewal. It is built around readings from the Bible and around the symbols of fire, water, and ashes. There will be silent moments in this service to sit with God, preparing yourself for your journey to the hill of the crosses and to the empty tomb. For those who wish to participate, the sign of the cross will be made with ashes on to your forehead or wrist. These ashes traditionally come from the burnt ashes of the palm branches from the year before.

We realize that this may be a new experience for some of you, however, it is our hope that many of you will join us for this meaningful service as we begin our journey through lent.

Join us to Celebrate with Music!

Join us during Lent and on Easter Sunday, for a series of organ recitals presented by our Director of Music, Bob Rushton. These will start approximately 10-15 minutes after Worship has ended and last about 15-20 minutes.
