Give it up for the Earth!
Lenten Faith in Action: February 14 - March 29
This year the people of Woodlawn United Church are challenged to “Give it up for the Earth!”
“Give it up for Earth!” is a national faith-in-action campaign to increase Canada’s contribution to climate justice. It is focused on the global crisis and offers people opportunity to be part of the solution. We, as a congregation, have this accessible, tangible, and powerful way to respond to this critical issue. During Lent, you are invited to pledge and call our government to action. We can be a sign that Canadians are prepared to make lifestyle changes to reduce our GHG emissions. And, that we want our government to match and exceed these actions with policy changes that will move us further and faster towards international climate change goals. Together we CAN make a difference!

Holy Saturday ~March 31
Imagine entering the Brick Hall and being greeted with low lighting, beautiful music and 40+ different prayer centers. You are welcomed to enter this room that has been created for you to take time out of your busy life to connect with the Holy. In silence you walk around the rooom, looking at the different stations. At one you write a letter to God, at another you colour a Mandela (an ancient practice used to clear your mind), you might choose a body prayer, or reflecting on our story in scripture. Using all your senses this is a time for you to connect and quiet your mind and listen for the still voice of God. One station is a "chocolate meditation" and another has many different scents to smell. You may choose to spend all your time at one station. You may choose to experience many of them. It is your time.
Join Shannon at Prayer Stations during Holy Week. There will be two sessions, each followed by a sharing circle. You are invited to come for the whole thing, or come for whatever part you like. People who have attended in teh past have experienced: "renewal", "peacefulness", "connection with God", and are "grateful for the opportunity".
